Hey! Red Shirt!

Filed under: My Cup of Socie-Tea — Santhosh @ 4:28 PM

Wore a red shirt to office yesterday (the same “senthooram” color Dockers that i used to wear to college). Was on my way to the Food Court when one of the construction workers called out “Sir! Red Shirt! Excuse me!”, and asked me to walk the other way.

Harini, are you listening. The number of times you would have called me “hey red shirt” (and the times it drew strange looks coz i wore white or blue on those occasions). Shud have blogged in support of all red apparel when in college itself, but well…

Noun: red
1.The quality or state of the chromatic colour resembling the hue of blood
2.Emotionally charged terms used to refer to extreme radicals or revolutionaries
3.The amount by which the cost of a business exceeds its revenue
“the company operated in the red last year”
Noun: Red
A tributary of the Mississippi River that flows eastward from Texas along the southern boundary of Oklahoma and through Louisiana

Red, the color of racy sportscars, luscious roses, sensuous lips and blushing cheeks. Of passion, romance, and love. Of Little Hearts and Valentine balloons and silky velvets and French wine. Of Ferrari and Man U and Red Bull. Of blood and guts and glory and sacrifce.

Seriously dunno what is wrong with wearing red. Not the blood red variety, rather the kumkum or senthooram shade. Cant think of something cooler than a properly pressed red half slack tucked in into a blue denim. Accessorize with a white tee inside and throw in a pair of burgundy boots.

Well, red trousers are not exactly a fashion statement (except maybe for a certain Ramarajan), nor are red belts. But red caps are pretty ok and Reebok has come out with a series of red and blue casual footwear. Atleast am not alone in sticking up for red.

Enough with getting off as understated. Take off every now and then. It takes a lot of pluck to carry off red. And only a few good men have it. Three cheers to us Cavaliers in Red!
