Days of our Lives!

An amateur’s tale of woe!

For the next few days, don’t ever anyone tell me doing things with one’s own hand gives the sweetest of results. I really don’t care to listen and neither am i able to make sense of the theorem. Unless you suffer from a paranoiac form of schizophrenia, so as to enjoy slogging away at something you are no good at. Or maybe you are one of em masochists who derives insane pleasure from being thoroughly whipped away at, with absolutely no results to show for the toil.

And in case anyone is yet to guess the reason for my getting into such a freakish mood, let me give you a hint : I get into such a temper once a month. Coz that’s the frequency with which i get down to the business of trying to wash my jeans.

Had been taking my clothes home once a month for washing. Atleast it made up for yet another reason for running off down south. But then in a moment of lunacy, i decided to wash them on my own henceforth. Still pondering on what made me take such a decision. Must be senility.
Anyways the main two for this were :

  • It was truly cumbersome (not to mention painful), having to lug all that weight up and down flights of stairs and across some 484 kms.
  • I’m right now not able to plan any of my trips home. In the sense that everytime i decide on a trip, i’ve had to cancel the tickets (The Les Concierge desk guy should have got a promotion by now).

Over my many adventures with Ariel and Rin, i’ve found to my utmost delight that one should wash vests separately. Right now mine are a brilliantly random spectrum of colors ranging from violet to bright orange.

Right now am spending more on the laundry shop than i bought them for in the first place.
Somebody please remind me to add this up in my PBC.

In the last few trials, i’ve done it all.
From fungal formation (for soon-to-be washers, dont leave your clothes soaked in Ariel for more than a day – unless you want to be an Alexander Fleming) to stain-removal acids to the other day when i got my first piece of apparel that was spotless after the wash (that it’s my hanky has to be seen with a better perspective).

The average result though is one of utter exasperation. Some 20,000 calories spent in trying to soak the clothes into the water and take them out, but yet to see the result. Have tried rubbing, scrubbing, scraping, stomping, brushing, dragging, and at times begging too, but to no avail. They just seem to come out of my efforts just the way they were when i started on them.
(Now i understand how my teachers would have felt over the years)!

So if you cant beat ’em, join ’em.
Since it’s Bangalore i atleast dont have to worry about wearing ‘decent’ clothing. Anything remotely queer will do. So the more the stains and cuts, the more the glances i seem to get down Brigade’s.

And by the way, wringing them is the best workout i’ve found to get awesome forearms.
Right now working on how to move it up to gain some triceps.
Will keep you posted…….

Until the next attempt,
Adios amigos!!!
